Frequently Asked Questions

Do you need to be flexible?

No.

The goal of yoga is to let go. Any poses that require flexion require yogis to relax their muscles into the postures. A qualified teacher will be able to provide guidance offering modifications if nurturing any part of the body.

Unlike competitive sport, yoga is a mindful practice that encourages people to be embodied. This means taking the physical movements only as far as feels right.

Is Yoga Religious?

No.

Yoga pre-dates Eastern religions, therefore, there will be some similarities within the philosophy of yoga and common morals that derived out of the same geographic region at later dates.
People from all religious backgrounds can practice yoga and can continue to practice their own faith.

Etiquette

It is a good custom to get to class early and shut off your mobile (or don’t bring it in). This will allow you to share relevant information with your teacher and give you the opportunity to relax and ground yourself.

Clothing

Comfortable clothing..that is not too revealing..and does not get in the way of your movement.

Equipment

The centre has equipment for relaxing and modifying postures. If you have a yoga mat or comfortable blanket please bring it with you. It is recommended that if you are going to practice yoga regularly that you purchase your own mat for hygiene purposes.

Hydration…very important

While practicing yoga many of the asanas involve twisting this helps naturally detox the body; which means the body is using more water. Therefore it is important to keep your water intake (or herbal teas) topped up and avoid too much caffeine. Benefits of Hydration

Parking

Parking is available on the street (2 hr limit). There is also a free car park above the hill at the Boys’ Club and behind Biggs cash & carry (closes 6pm).

Love this place. There are so many different styles of yoga classes, something to suit everyone and times to suit everyone. Erin is a fantastic teacher. This is great addition to Bantry.
